Author Guidelines

UTC PROSPECTIVAS is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Faculty of Administrative and Economic Sciences of the Technical University of Cotopaxi. Its objectives include disseminating research findings mainly in Administration, Economics, Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Finance. Therefore, it will publish scientific contributions according to the following requirements:

  • Research Articles: Must present original, detailed, and structured findings from research projects. These manuscripts must follow a rigorous structure, including an introduction justifying the problem, a detailed methodology, clear results, a discussion with practical implications, and conclusions linking findings to real-world applications. Additionally, they require empirical validation, such as experimental data, case studies, or tested models supporting the proposals, avoiding purely unbacked theoretical reflections.
  • Review Articles: A type of academic manuscript that synthesizes and analyzes previous research on a specific topic, offering a critical and updated perspective on the current state of knowledge in a given field. These articles do not present original data; instead, they collect, compare, and discuss findings from published studies, identifying trends, literature gaps, and future research directions.

Consequently, the following guidelines are established for authors to ensure a fair, transparent, and constructive review process, as well as to guarantee the consistency and relevance of published works.

Author Guidelines:

Authors submitting manuscripts to the journal's Editorial Board should consider the following aspects for potential publication:

  • Originality and Relevance:

Manuscripts submitted to UTC PROSPECTIVAS must be original, unpublished, and make a significant contribution to scientific knowledge, avoiding duplicate publication in another language or overlapping results, data, and conclusions.

Submitted manuscripts will undergo an initial evaluation to assess topical relevance, originality, text quality, and plagiarism levels. This evaluation is conducted by the Editorial Board, which will review the manuscript, provide initial observations, and return it to the authors. Authors must submit their revised article within no more than one week, after which the Editorial Board will decide whether the article proceeds to peer review, which involves sending the manuscript to at least two anonymous academic reviewers.

Articles must be original works; therefore, they must not have been previously or simultaneously submitted to another publication medium. If duplicate submission is detected, the manuscript will be permanently rejected.

Through peer review, the manuscript will be evaluated as one of the following:

  • Acceptable without modifications.
  • A strong candidate for publication, subject to minor revisions.
  • Acceptable, subject to major/substantive revisions.
  • Rejection.

Manuscripts classified as acceptable with modifications will be returned to the authors for correction and must be resubmitted to the journal within a maximum period of 2 weeks.

  • Manuscript Structure:

Authors must strictly follow the structure and formatting guidelines provided by the journal.

Clear and concise writing is recommended, using technical language appropriate for the journal's audience.

  • Ethics and Conflict of Interest:

Authors must adhere to ethical standards in research, including obtaining ethical approval when necessary.

Furthermore, the name of the institution where the research was conducted must not be mentioned anywhere in the article; only the sector to which it belongs should be disclosed.  Finally, an author may publish a maximum of two manuscripts in a single issue of the journal, regardless of authorship order. Any submission exceeding this limit will be considered for subsequent issues, upon notification and approval from the authors.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to make copyediting/formatting adjustments to accepted papers to maintain the journal's stylistic uniformity.
