Abstract

This study comparatively analyzed the vibrational response of a 12-lead three-phase induction motor under no-load operation and progressively increasing operating demand, considering both 220 V and 440 V supply configurations. The experimental design consisted of 120-minute test campaigns, with measurements recorded at the initial instant and subsequently every 10 min. Vibration velocity and acceleration were selected as the primary variables, while rotational speed was used as a complementary variable. The test conditions included an initial no-load stage followed by four successive stages of increasing operating demand, experimentally adjusted through target current values for each supply voltage. The results revealed a systematic variation in the motor’s mechanical response under both configurations, characterized by a progressive increase in vibration velocity and acceleration as operating demand increased, accompanied by a sustained reduction in rotational speed. The comparison between the 220 V and 440 V configurations showed a similar overall trend, although vibration velocity and acceleration values were slightly higher at 220 V under the most demanding operating conditions. Overall, the findings indicate that vibration analysis enabled a comparative characterization of the motor’s mechanical response under a dual-voltage experimental framework and progressively increasing operating demand defined according to an electrical criterion
