Estudio preliminar de la Ketamina sobre la presión intracraneal canina evaluada mediante ecografía transpalpebral

Abstract

Se evaluó el efecto de la ketamina sobre la presión intracraneal en perros clínicamente sanos sometidos a profilaxis dental, utilizando el diámetro de la vaina del nervio óptico (DVNO) medido por ecografía transpalpebral como estimador indirecto. El estudio incluyó diez caninos de entre 5 y 15 kg, clasificados como ASA I-II. Cada animal fue sometido a dos procedimientos anestésicos separados por un intervalo de 15 días. En el protocolo control se empleó diazepam y propofol, mientras que en el protocolo experimental el propofol fue reemplazado por ketamina. Las mediciones del DVNO se realizaron bilateralmente cada 10 minutos desde el estado basal hasta completar 40 minutos de anestesia. Los datos fueron analizados mediante prueba t para muestras pareadas y ANOVA de medidas repetidas. No se observaron diferencias significativas entre ambos protocolos ni cambios relevantes durante los distintos tiempos de evaluación (p > 0.05). Bajo las condiciones del estudio, la ketamina no produjo incremento detectable de la presión intracraneal en caninos sanos durante anestesias de corta duración.
