Computer system for the management of institutional information of the Technical University of Cotopaxi
Abstract
This work presents the results of the research developed at the Technical University of Cotopaxi "UTC" where the information needs of students who are part of the National Leveling and Admission System have been studied regarding the benefits and obligations they acquire by being part of the UTC. During the course of the field research, it was evident that a considerable number of students are unaware of important academic data such as the subjects and syllables that make up the academic framework of the degree they are studying and taking into account the advance of Information Technologies and Communication, the development of a Computer System composed of two subsystems has been proposed as an alternative solution: the first subsystem consists of a web application oriented to the administration of institutional information related to: Campus, Faculties, Careers, Services, Entry Requirements, Requirements of Egress, Authorities, Meshes and Academic Syllables, News and Telephone Directory. For its part, the second subsystem is a mobile application intended to consume and present the institutional information managed through the web application in addition to having its own functionalities, among which the following stand out: Qualifications Consultation, Push Notifications and Georeferencing. To monitor the development process, the iterative and incremental life cycle has been used, documenting each of the phases and making use of solid programming tools such as Ionic, PHP, MySQL, the Model-View-Controller architectural pattern and encryption techniques. to guarantee the integrity and confidentiality of the information.
