Abstract

This article determines the sound pressure level (dB) generated by vehicular traffic, in the lateral passage of the city of Latacunga, province of Cotopaxi. This is a main road that goes north to south and vice versa, the vehicles that travel are mostly light, followed by heavy traffic corresponding to cargo transportation and public transportation, this trend is observed during the day and night. For this, a properly calibrated acoustic meter has been used, a standard at 94 and 114 (dB), and a measurement procedure which is based on the ISO1996 standardized method. The purpose of this work is to determine the noise level in (dB) generated by vehicular traffic on the road, allowing us to have a reference of the level of environmental noise pollution generated on the roads of our Ecuador.
